To get a properly fitted bra you must know how to fit a bra. We will teach you the art of bra fitting. Always measure the bra size while wearing your own bra fitting you best, standing straight and breathing normally. Measuring a proper bra fitting size has two parts band size or back measurement and cup size.
Band Size Measurement
Band size is determined by taking the measuring tape around the ribcage directly under the breast. Make sure that the tape goes straight and tightly around the chest. If this measurement is below 33 then add 5 to it and if the measurement is above 33 inches then only 3 is add to the measurement. We consider it measurement No 1 and is called the band size. Please don’t forget to note that if the band size comes out to be an odd number then move on to the next even number.
Say, your measurement around rib rage directly under breasts was 35 inches, then according to calculations 35 + 3 = 38 which is your band size.
Verify The Band Size
To verify that you have made the correct calculation of band size perform this verification test. Take the measurement around the top of your busts above the fullest part. This measurement should be equal to your band size. We may call it measurement No 2 and suppose its value is 38.
As the measurement above breasts is equal to band size that is also 38 the correct band size measurement is verified.
Cup Size Measurement
For this we take the measure around the fullest or biggest point of bust. This is measurement No 3. To calculate cup size we subtract measurement number 1 from measurement number 3 and note down the difference.
For example, in this case say measurement No3 is 41 inches. Then we calculate cup size as:
= Measurement No3 – Band Size
= 41 – 38
= 3
Then according to the chart below cup size is C
If the difference between the two numbers is:
0 or less than 1 inch then cup size is AA
1 inch then cup size is A
2 inches then cup size is B
3 inches then cup size is C
4 inches then cup size is D
5 inches then cup size is DD
6 inches then cup size is E
