Our diet plays an important role in our growth and health. What we eat is reflected through our health. The more healthy food we eat, the healthier we get.

If we sit and make a list of healthy food, we get a variety of items to list. Starting from whole grain that includes variety of whole grains like buckwheat, barley, oat and dry corn. The medium in which we cook also has an effect on our health. The oil that should be used is plant oil especially olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, corn oil, almond oil, avocado oil, grape seed oil, pumpkin seed oil and many other types. It depends on the type of cooking that which oil should be used. The canola, sunflower or peanut oil can be chosen for high heat uses like frying and searing. In medium high heat, grape seed oil and sunflower oil can be used like in baking and stir-frying. In lower heat baking and pressure-cooking and for sauces olive oil, corn oil and pumpkin seed oil are the best. There are some oils that should not be heated; such oils include flaxseed oil, evening primrose oil and wheat germ oil.

Beans and peas are good for health. So one should use them frequently like green beans, soy, split peas, kidney lentils and others. Add more and more vegetables in your diet like alfalfa, egg-plant, potato, broccoli, cabbage, mushrooms, okra, onion family, tomato and so many other vegetables. Fruits are also great sources of freshness, energy and good health. The most common fruits are apple, pear, banana, cherry, plum, watermelon, melon, mandarin, mango, coconut, pineapple and papaya. The nuts are also good for health. Some of them are namely almonds, hazelnuts, cashews and pistachios. The animal products are quite beneficial too including fish, poultry, eggs and dairy. In our daily diet, we should have bit of all the above-mentioned items and this is called balanced diet.

Fast Food is not a good idea as a healthy food.
