Physical Activity
The term Physical Activity is defined as any form of exercise that is planned to do regularly on daily basis like running, jogging and walking. It may also include the routine work that we usually do like gardening, walking the dog and other household work. People who are physically inactive are more prone to serious diseases like coronary artery disease in which deposition of fats, calcium and other substances in the inner lining of the artery takes place. The other major problems like obesity, blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes are also due to the physical inactivity. If we see the ratio of Americans involvement in Physical Activity, we see that Americans are mostly inactive. A very low percentage of Americans participate in proper Physical Activity and some in low level of Physical Activity.
The advantages of Physical Activity are many as it can increase your capacity to work, save you from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The Physical Activity has other benefits too like it makes your bones and muscles strong and it also reduces feeling of depression and stress. The Physical Activity builds so much stamina that you don’t feel lethargic or exhausted. One must have noticed that athletes, sportsmen and people who serve in arm forces, and naval forces are fit and healthy. The secret of their fitness is regular jogging, walking and exercises. The television and movie stars also keep themselves healthy and fit by following a particular pattern of physical activity. That’s why, they don’t gain or lose weight. It is important to promote Physical Activity in your family, friends and colleagues especially girls. As majority of the girls don’t participate in physical activities, so motivate your sisters, daughters and friends. The schools, colleges and universities can play major role in motivating girls for physical activities like sports and exercises.
According to the Physical Activity Pyramid, the tv/computer games should be occasional, sports like squash or tennis and recreational activities like swimming, gardening and weigh lifting twice to thrice a week, planned aerobic 5-6 days a week at least for 30 minutes like walking, rowing or stair climbing and incedental activities such as take extra steps, avoid using remote controls, mow the lawn walk the dog, park the car and walk everyday and other activities like that. A normal person should include jogging, brisk walking, hiking, stair climbing, running, bicycling, owing, swimming and few sports. If these are done on regular basis, they are very much beneficial to keep you fit. If a person can’t do all this on his own, he or she can join a gym or health center in order to keep himself or herself healthy and fit. Some great ideas for winter physical activities include scouting or camping. No matter what the season is, keep yourself healthy round the year with Physical Activity and exercises.
