“Smoking is injurious to health”, is a very commonly used statement in Anti-Smoking Seminars and Anti-Smoking Campaigns that are held on Anti-Smoking Day each year. Everyone knows that this is true, but we still see a lot of people smoking around us. It is not a single person at risk of diseases i.e. smoker but whoever sits with him, becomes a second hand smoker. Not only men but women also smoke. Smokers are at high risk of diseases. The risk factor of anything is the chance to catch a particular disease. Some diseases are common in both the genders due to smoking. These diseases are cancer. Smoking has high risk factor for mouth cancer, lungs cancer, bladder, kidney and several other organs. Smoking can also cause heart diseases and most of the people die of cancers. A smoker does not usually live a long life and if by chance, he manages to survive more, he is trapped by many diseases.

There are few reasons to smoke but there are many reasons to quit smoking. In general or in both genders, smoking can cause eye problems, skin, hair, teeth problems, thyroid gland problems and even dangerous for infants who are second hand smokers. Let's talk about the effects of smoking in men. The smoking in males can cause reduction in sperm density and motility. In males, smoking can also cause erectile dysfunction too.

In women smoking can also cause breast cancer and reproductive system disorders. The smoking can also cause early menopause. Women who smoke during their pregnancies have bad effects on their newborn. So a pregnant woman smoker is putting two lives at risk by smoking. Smoking in women is also linked with infertility, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, low birth weight and premature delivery. A woman who smokes is at high risk of osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis. According to some researches, women who smoke during pregnancy, their children also indulge in drug abuse and conduct disorders.

The health risks for people who smoke crack are also very high. It is an addictive stimulant drug. The crack is cocaine that comes in a rock style. It is heated and its vapors are smoked. It is called crack due to the sound of crack produced while heating. The bad effects of crack on health include constricted blood vessels, rise in body temperature, high blood pressure, and heart rate. The crack user also feels restless and irritability.

The cigarette contains 4000 chemical compounds and around 400 toxin substances. If now we know that it's harmful, it's better to quit today, as tomorrow never comes and especially for smokers tomorrow really never comes. Don’t buy a pack of poison for yourself and for those around you. When you lit one cigarette, you are reducing one day of your life. Live a healthy life and discourage smokers, as it is really bad for health and for environment.
